The November updated includes new versions of trails 2 and 16. It also includes new trail 41 along with new gravel roads G9, G10, G11, G12, G13, G14. )

Below you can download the the GPS track information for the trail or trails you would like to upload to your GPS.

Simply left click the trail you would like to download, it will then ask you to open or save the file, choose save and select a destination on your computer to save it to.

Once it is saved you can then upload it to your GPS unit. I have tried to use a format that should work well for everyone, if you encounter any problems please let me know.

(If you need software to allow your computer to communicate with your GPS unit, try GPS Track Maker it is a free download and works great with any type of GPS unit.

Garmin Map Source Overlays

                 (These overlays do not include updates to 2,16, 41, G9 - G14)

If you are using a Garmin GPS unit with Map Source software you can

download the following files to create a standard or transparent complete trail system overlay on top of your favorite Map Source software, such as "Topo" or "Streets".

You have three options to choose from, the first is a standard "white" background map with all of the trails.

Coal Creek OHV Area trails (standard)

The second is a transparent map so your Map Source info is visible and it displays all of the trails in red

Coal Creek OHV Area trails (transparent, trails are all red)

The third option is a transparent map so your Map Source info is visible and  the trails on this one are color coded by degree of difficulty.

(I recommend this one for everyone)

** Make sure to read the installation notes within each download. The notes will walk you through how to install the files into your Map Source program.

Thanks to Ross Spoonland for taking to the time to put all of these files together. Ross has also provided step by step directions on how to create your on maps. Just click on the tutorial below.

GPS CONVERSION TABLE

Not every GPS unit uses the same numerical description for latitude and longitude. Some display decimals while other use minutes and seconds. To standardize coordinate calibrations, use the simple conversion system given below

Example 1)

To convert seconds into decimal minutes:

To convert seconds into decimal minutes:

Divide the number of seconds by 60

 For example W86 12' 47"

 Calculation: 47 seconds divided by 60 = .783 or

 W86 15.783

Example 2)  To convert decimal minutes to seconds:
Multiply the decimal by 60 seconds

 For example N37 20.460

 Calculation: .460 x 60 = 27.61920 or

 N37 20' 28"
